Bullfinch

About the project

Bullfinches (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) are large stocky finches who inhabit deciduous woodlands across Europe, Russia and China.  Their large bills are used for dealing with seeds, but their favourite snack is fruit buds.

I intended this sketch to be monochrome but couldn’t resist adding in the male’s distinctive pinky breast.  The females have a light brown breast, but both sexes can be spotted by their black cap.
